The broken window of crime, “Street children” in new South African CHILD CARE ACT Petition

Fuss about crime all you like, it is not going to make any difference what so ever.

I don’t know if petitions have any impact on our government either, one hopes they do, but the issue of how we as a society treat those at the margins of our society has an incredible knock-on effect and is worth a moment of thought.

In the same way that apartheid policies created divisions of entitlement within South African society, the Children’s Amendment Bill entrenches and legalizes discrimination against children who have left home and who are in self-care.
