No not that e. ;- ) The ‘e’ that I have to illustrate in a poster as part of the 26letters project.
I’ve given up on the plan to create a real world MC Escher-esque installation along the lines of watter running up an incline.
I’ve been hoping that some really clever idea would pop out of thin air all shiny and gift-wrapped.

Needless to say some simple genius concept has not presented itself and the deadline is looming – in fact we have a little (better) get (your shit) -together meet on Wednesday eve. No pressure implied by this attractive invite with its friendly cursive typography whatsoever :- )
I have decided to just submit the ‘e’ to my usual obsessive photographic, digitally compulsive darkroom method and to try to coax (failing that programatically brutalize) ‘e’ into something either visually interesting or beautiful, hopefully both.
What I have in mind will require scouring the streets of Joburg for just the right scenes, at night. If all goes according to plan my poster will have a pretty energetic focus bleeding into an ambiguous urban environment.
The ‘e’ will be legible, and be part of a ‘text’ that is just not. It might just say something about energy being inextricably linked to environment, that the environment needs energy to avoid absolute entropy, to avoid unraveling into the nondescript grey blurry noise of kipple-isation.
No I don’t think the typical viewer will ‘get’ that by just looking at the poster, hopefully Laura can help with that part :- )…
