André has been sick with an irritable bowel syndrome type thing on and off for the last few months and this week got so bad that he was taken into hospital on fri where they suspected at best gallstones, and then worse possibly a colonic rupture since ultrasound showed there was fluid and gas where they ought not to be – but more extensive tests – whew! – showed more likely a bad peritonitis/colitis. He is responding well to heavy antibiotic and other treatment and is much better today (apart from craving cheeseburgers – nothing but a drip since yesterday am and not even soft food allowed till tues), but they need to do final gastroscopy and biopsy tests on Mon once his tummy is well settled, to finalise follow-up treatment and completely exclude nasty surprises, so are not letting him go until Tues night if all goes well. He’s in need of a lot of rest, so we are not encouraging visitors at this stage but your love and thoughts are appreciated…
