Been a bit quiet in here because I have been insanely busy.
The first year graphic design lecturer at Damelin Bramley has resigned and I agreed to take over the industry practice subject adding 2 hours of lectures per week to my schedule and my second years at both Bramley and Boksburg have an additional subject, Web Animation, this semester which adds another 8 hours per week to my lecturing schedule. This means I’m back to about 40 lecture periods a week which borders on the insane.
Apart from some other moonlighting projects that are underway I’m building a database driven online presentation of artworks on DKP.com, from the ground up with PHP and MySQL. It may eventually also include some Flash based flick-flacks. I’m loving the process, sussing out the logic of it and learning a fair bit in the process, but next time I might just look a bit harder for a prefab gallery/CMS system. I’ve actually dreamt dreams interlinking each other with SQL queries! :-)
What I’m most excited about though, is a thing I’m developing tentatively called NetVerse. Watch this space, I believe this is something quite special, definitely is for me from artistic expression and conceptual perspectives. It was actually considering the eyebeam fellowship (which sounds like heaven on earth) (via Nat) that re-awakened this project.
On a personal note, Béo is now standing on his own and we are resisting the temptation of helping him into walking – but it’s immanent so the next round of child centric home modifications is underway.
The bike is not happy. Even after a full service. Being twenty five years old she now deserves a motor over-haul which could cost as much as 15K. We have coolant in the motor’s oil as well as on the garage floor. At least driving the truck is fun, if hellishly expensive in fuel. Dunno how we’re going to sort this one out :-(
Later.
