I love the concept, not so sure about the styling of the Timesphere Wall Clock, by Gideon Dagan (2002). It is punted on his site as capturing ‘the essence of pure, minimalist design. The MoMA store offers this roughly 24cm x 24cm x 3cm clock – sans the AA battery that it requires – for $48. This is giving me some crazy ideas involving metal filings.
If you want something more, shall we say involved, there is always the classic stop-motion clock by Yogo Nakamura. (The link still works even though his domain seems expired?)
Something more interactive? Try John Maeda’s Line Calendar(2005). Still rather minimalist in a sense. Click and hold on the line and zoom into the linear dimension of time. (Requires Java)
