a contact form is not email! (rant)

e.g. Global Art Information Directory

Okay, email is email, and a contact form is a contact form. If you want to have a contact form on your site, fine have one, but especially on a business site not listing a good old fashioned email address is just plain rude and smacks of backwardness.

If i can click on a link to send an email to a website, the de-facto standard being webmaster@ whatever it means that email goes through my email system and i have a record of the comunication. Not giving me that option implies something you suspect me of being a spammer and that just rubs me up the wrong way.

Especially if all I wanted to do was point out a slight glitch on your site that requires me sending you a small screencapture, which of course i can’t do through a contact form and instead i have to upload it to my own site, prompting me to write an entirely pointless rant like this just to have somewhere to put this…
globalart

Its not just this site that is guilty of that, more and more sites are doing this, possibly because it looks all we-are web 2.0 ified, and i think it sucks – unless of course you have a spell checker installed in which case I’ll be a bit more impressed.
