  1. …sometimes the frost makes the blade stick. What you do in life echoes through eternity. Having a lecturer that teaches you more than you are suppose to know is a bonus for me. Someone who tells you about life, love and that leaves you with knowledge and little lessons that means alot more than just the normal silibus. I actually hate the word normal, there is no such thing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, not just for being yourself, but for guiding me in a way no one else could’ve.

  2. “…My name is Cecilia Botha, I am the manger of CtheNet, a internet and business solutions company.

I would like to know if you perhaps have a student that needs a bit of extra money to do designing work for me.

I have about 5 designs a day like business cards, flyers ect.

    Please let me know ASAP

    Thank you

    Cecilia Botha

You can get Cecilia’s email addy from me if you are interested.

  3. Well… during the course of the year I learnt many things about nothing, nothing about some things and crucial points of things in general. I feel that I have grown, as a person and a designer. Having my buttons pushed to make me think a bit further and become better at what I do.
An interesting year to say the least

  4. Well, after a very long year, I feel a bit sad to think this is where the road splits. It is like they say in the in the poem “The Road Not Taken”, you have to go on and make your own choice. The big bugger is that nobody can make this choice for you. It is you and only you that can make this choice. Sometimes we mess up, but we must learn to standup and go on with out looking back.

    Thanks for a wonderful year

  5. My “perspective” on graphic design metaphorically after a years studies…? Graphic design is like a puzzle, first you lay out the peaces, look for the corners then the edges and finally you start fitting all the pieces together (much like starting out on what you have to work with and keeping inside the “perimeters” but at the same time still being able to maintain thinking outside the “box”).

“GRAPHIC DESIGN is the bridge between ART and COMMUNICATION”

Thanks for the great year André, you will be sadly mist!!

  6. Well, what did I enjoy from this wacky year?Hmm!

I enjoyed every part of the year, the good, the bad, the ugly and the absolute scary. I learned that you as a designer must be confindent in your designs and in yourself otherwise you just loose it. You have to push your limitations to the fullest and hopefully get where you want to go.

Thankyou so much for advice on life and design wise. Class won’t be the same now that your not there:( But we have the absolute crazy and great memories. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart and hope you enjoy life as a DAD. Good luck for the future:)Jy gonna be missed!

  7. Well, I’ve been looking forward to college since I realized what my dream is and what I want to become in life!! I went through school hating it just to get finish so I can start with college and work on my talent 24h.

I told myself in the beginning of the year that I want to set goals for myself and achieve them, and that’s what I did! I love to work with my talent, learning new things, while gaining experience. My favorite part was the projects, I always push myself to see how good I can be and if I can be better!! I loved to learn all I can. This year helped me to change into a more mature person with a lot of confidence in my work and the knowledge of a good Designer.

I will miss your advice all the way throughout my journey in live…and I know that I will become the person I want to be one day, through using what I learned as a first year student. I hope you enjoy your days as a dad and remember to take as many Pics as you can, because babies tend to grow up faster than you realize!

    :-)

    Thanks

    Bianca

  9. I don’t know why it took me forever to comment here. I always had it in the back of my mind, but always put it off because I’m no good at goodbyes. I think I finally realized that I should do it when I was at the Graduation ceremony (alone) this year, just to close this chapter of my life.

I never really thought of going into multimedia, I always had the idea of becoming a traveling journalist. My parents however weren’t convinced and sent me to a career counselor. After some tests the counselor suggested that I should consider taking this course, parents agreed I should go do it (even though I didn’t have much of a say).

The rest is history as they say and I don’t regret any of it.
The past 2 years have really been great. Working in an environment which was both casual and deadline heavy professional with fellow enthusiasts was definitely fun.

Andre wasn’t a teacher. He was a facilitator that set us on our course, helped when we asked and consulted on our ideas or views. It was great that he didn’t fall into the stereotypical teacher role; we needed somebody who was self a creative person, had a passion for the arts, spontaneous and somewhat odd. XD
It was great to identify with a teacher for once.
It’s a shame that the 2nd year students of 2006 would be missing out on him.

I enjoyed my time there and it was my pleasure to have met everyone. I’m continuing my career in the graphic arts and hope to get into advertising someday.
    Best of luck everybody.

    Cheers.

  10. Dare I say? I have learnt a lot, reflecting back. Life’s changed now, and I guess learning the industry and staying on top makes life more colourful. Stepping out of the schools bondage and submission, opens one up to more liberated life styles and cultures :D. Never refuse an invitation to new things. Never try to comfort yourself in the ashes when you are down, a phoenix rises out of the ashes!. And to the designers flocking into the design media a tip of advice. Give up now, while you have nothing to loose, because I will kick your ass to the curb. And if you don’t like what you do, why the hell are you a designer? Welcome to the deadlines of life. To all the new designers, good luck in the rat race.

  11. Who would have guessed I would find myself back to this page 2 years later :). See you are running your company full time now, nice. Anyhow things are going well this side. How many kids do you have now? lol Be good! Work hard and never stop learning… http://www.drupal.org the site where “money” and “fun” is found ;)
